New Book, ‘Unbreakable’, on the way in 2021!

Thanks to this craptastic year, it’s been a while since I’ve had any book news, but I recently pulled on my big girl knickers, committed to a deadline, and signed a contract with Bold Strokes for book number 9 (crikey!)

Unbreakable will be out in October 2021 (tentative date – I know it’s a long time off, please don’t kill me.) It’s a standalone thriller/police procedural, with not two but three lovely leading ladies, and its blurb goes like this:

Dr. Grace Kendal never stands a chance. The injured woman comes out of nowhere, bleeding heavily and holding a gun. Compelled to help her, Grace is dragged into Elin Breckenridge’s nightmare. Their fight to survive will take them across the country and to the limits of their endurance. But who is Elin running from? As Grace struggles for answers, one thing becomes clear – Elin is somehow connected to a dead man, and Grace could be next.

For Detective Sergeant Safia Faris, the case should have been easy: one dead body, one suspect. But the deeper she digs, the more obvious it becomes that the murder was only the beginning. The investigation sets her on a collision course with Grace and Elin, and she’s forced to re-evaluate everything she knows. Because nothing is quite as it seems, and Grace and Elin’s lives aren’t the only ones on the line.

Great news!! Can’t wait for this one…

Excellent! It’s been a fun one to write (so, obviously, it’s quite traumatic for all involved!) and I’m looking forward to being able to share it.

Please tell me there isn’t much violence and gore details… 😁

        • Cari Hunter says:

          Ah…yeah…about that…
It’s definitely a darker story than Breathe. It’s not too gory, but I’m not going to fib and tell you it’s hearts and flowers and plain sailing all the way. There are some lighter moments (mainly from Safia’s POV) but in general it’s quite traumatic.

Oh wonderful! I will be patiently waiting for this book! Every few months I always go back to see if you have anything new out! I find your writing (although maybe not for the faint of heart) a perfect amount of dark and trauma to make it feel realistic. Please put it on audible as well! These books make me anticipate my drive to work every morning. 🙂

What a lovely comment 🙂 I’m really glad you’re enjoying the audio books – I’m almost sure this new one will be released onto audio and I will do my damndest to keep Nicki Vincent on board as its narrator. I tend to listen to them on my commute as well – they keep the road rage to a minimum!
I do try to update this blog with all my book news. If you’re on Facebook, drop me a friend request because I’m far livelier on there than I am on here (though you won’t miss out just following the blog!)

Thought I’d check in to see if you had any books coming up and needless to say I’m excited!!! I’ve read all of your books and was hoping one was in the works. It sounds intriguing and I can’t wait to read it!

    • Cari Hunter says:

Cheers! I’m excited too 🙂 The manuscript it with BSB now, so it’s a case of chewing off my fingernails while I wait for the edits (which won’t actually be for months yet, so I’m going easy on my cuticles.) There are some things that are quite different for me with this one, and some aspects that are business as usual. Having three POVs and two main storylines running parallel with each other are quite different. General mayhem, hurt/comfort, and occasional carnage are business as usual!
